With Antonio Conte looking certain to become The Blue’s boss in the summer, he is reportedly looking to bring in PSG’s star centre midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
After talks with the club, Conte is a shoe-in to become the new Chelsea manager after the close of the season- And according to French website Le10 Sport, “Conte has already identified his transfer targets and put Matuidi on his wishlist.”
The article states that Conte wants to bolster his midfield with a box-to-box midfielder, and Blaise Matuidi, after 26 games has racked up 5 assists and 3 goals (with a passing completion of 91%)- something that new Chelsea coach will be needing next season after a disappointing campaign this season.
When the French international joined the club in 2011 from Saint-Etienne for just £6million, he quickly became a fan favourite. A bid was apparently made for the player in the past, though it was rejected- meaning that Chelsea will have to make a handsome bid to land the star player in the near future.
With The blues playing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions league round of 16 second leg at Stamford Bridge next week, Chelsea fans will be keen to see what all the fuss is about, despite the 2-1 deficit that they face.
