Chelsea have ten points from their first five Premier League games, and New Boss Antonio Conte has a lot of Questions to answer.

One of those questions being raised by Blues fans on Twitter is, why did Conte makes those substitutions so late?

The Blues Boss has stated that he left it late to make substitutions against Liverpool mainly because he felt his original starting XI could get them back in the game.

Despite Diego Costa continuing his strong form, The Blues slumped to their first defeat of the new 2016/17 season, losing 2-1 to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge

Now, The Italian boss is under pressure as everyone is wondering why he left it until seven minutes from full time to make any changes, bringing on Pedro, Victor Moses and Cesc Fabregas off the bench.

Despite being ready and fit to play, Michy Batshuayi remained unused.

Conte stated that he felt that his side improved in the second half and as a result he was hesitant to make any change that would spoil the team’s momentum.

“In the second half we started with the same players and you saw another game, with great intensity,” he told the club’s official website.

“We scored the goal and created chances so for this reason I waited to make the substitutions. In the last 10 minutes I changed three players to try to give freshness and change the result.

“In that moment I had to decide whether or not to put two wingers in. I wanted to change a midfielder to put Fabregas on but it could have been Batshuayi and not either Moses or Pedro.

“I needed to put Hazard closer to Diego.”
