Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has warned of the dangers Chelsea will face against West Ham, outlining Andy Caroll in particular as a threat to the Blues’ defence.

Conte said: “I hope it will be a different game. The result wasn’t good for us (in the League Cup). For sure, we want to try and take three points from this game.

“It will be a difficult game because we all know the difficulty of this type of match, a derby, and the quality of West Ham.

“But we are preparing very well for this game, in the right way with great commitment and focus.

“Also, we will know the other results of the other teams. For sure, it will be a pressure, positive or negative. But we are ready to play this game and to try to do better than in the last game there.”

West Ham striker Andy Carroll has a good record against Chelsea, and will be back from injury for West Ham to face the Blues’.

Conte said: “Carroll, for sure, is a really good player. Very strong physically, and we must pay great attention to him.

“I think we must pay attention to the whole West Ham team and squad. We are trying to limit the strength of our opponents and we are looking for solutions.

“But it’s important we play our own football, with our philosophy, to try and score and play well, with high intensity.

“We are preparing something different if you face a player that is fast or one that is very strong physically… we are preparing very well.”

Conte also heaped praise on Victor Moses, who earned himself a new contract with Chelsea due to his in-form performances this season under the Italian.

Conte added: “First of all, it’s right to say that Moses deserved a new contract. He’s a really good guy, a good player with a great technique, great desire to fight. I think he deserved this.

“When I saw him during the pre-season, I was very clear with him: ‘You stay here for the whole season, and I hope you are happy with this.’ He said he was very happy to stay and try and prove himself, that he was ready to play for Chelsea.

“I’m pleased for him. But, I repeat, he deserves this. Nobody has just gifted him something.”
