Southampton star full-back Nathaniel Clyne has refused to put pen-to-paper on the club’s latest contract offer.

The England international’s current deal at St. Mary’s expires in July 2016, so Manchester United may be able to bring him to Old Trafford for cheaper than expected this summer.

The Red Devils’s boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly a massive fan of the pacey Clyne, who could join his former Saints team mate Luke Shaw in the next transfer window.

The 23-year old was a product of the highly-rated Crystal Palace youth academy, who have also developed talented players such as Wilfried Zaha.

Clyne made the switch to the south-coast in 2012.
