Chelsea new-boy Diego Costa has apologised to the fans of the club for helping Atletico Madrid eliminate them from last years Champions League.

The Spain striker will make his Stamford Bridge debut tonight ahead of Chelsea’s final pre season game against Real Sociedad, and Costa has apologised for the part he played in Chelsea’s exit from the Champions League last season.

The Spanish champions eliminated The Blues on the way to the final, before they were beaten by rivals-Real Madrid, and Costa has admitted that he is sorry for his goal at Stamford Bridge that was one reason behind the English outfit being knocked out.

“Now I can say I’m really sorry for the part I played in the game we won at Stamford Bridge.”, said the former Atletico Madrid man.

“I remember the passion and support of the Chelsea fans that night. They stayed right until the end, getting behind their team, even though it was unlikely they could win after we scored two quick goals. I liked that.

“I hope my actions on the pitch and my feet will do the talking and then people can decide if I’m a good player or not, if I’m improving or not. All I can say is I love playing hard and fairly.

“I want to improve, not only as a player but as an individual, and I believe this is the perfect place for me to do that.

“That’s the reason I chose Chelsea and why I want to defend this shirt.”
