Thibaut Courtois has welcomed Chelsea new boy Radamel Falcao

Chelsea confirmed the signing of the Manchester United flop on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco today. Falcao failed to make his stay at Old Trafford permanent after a disappointing first season in England.

But Blues boss Jose Mourinho has decided to make a gamble on the Colombia international in a bid to improve the Premier League Champions’ attacking prowess.

And with Thibaut Courtois earlier urging Mourinho to capture Falcao, he is delighted to have him on side.

Ex Team-mates

Courtois wrote on twitter: “Welcome friend!! FALCAO #eltigre,”. The Belgium shot-stopper also re-tweeted from Chelsea’s official account welcoming Falcao.

Thibaut Courtois and Radamel Falcao both played together at La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid, and were both part of the side that claimed the Europa League in 2012.

The former Atletico Madrid and Porto hit-man scored just four goals in 29 appearances for United last season but is looking to start a fresh at Chelsea.

“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea and can’t wait to start training and help with our aim of retaining the league title and being successful in Europe,” he said.
