The Blues keeper has claimed he will still be at the club next season

Thibaut Courtois has ended fears about where his future lies by claiming he will be staying at Chelsea.

The Belgium international has been a target for several top European sides over the last few weeks and it has led to fears among Chelsea and the club’s fans that their number one goalkeeper could be leaving the club in the summer.

Since his return from Atletico Madrid, Courtois has quickly established himself as the Blues’ main goalkeeper. He has become a key part of the squad and one of their most valuable players. Therefore, losing him would be a massive blow to the club.

However, according to the Daily Star, the 23-year old has been quick to pledge his allegiance to Chelsea, at least for the foreseeable future.

He said: “I have a contract for three years, so I will say 100 per cent (I will stay).”

Conte to overhaul squad

It’s great news for Blues’ fans, as it appears he is willing to stay by the club’s side, despite the fact they massively underachieved this season and find themselves with no trophy, no Champions League place and sat in ninth place in the league.

Incoming manager Antonio Conte will be hoping to overhaul the squad during the summer transfer window and sort things out at the club so that next season the Blues can be up near the top end of the table again.

As well as selling players who are surplus to requirements,  he’ll be hoping to keep hold of as many key players as he can. Therefore, the Belgian claiming he is going nowhere will be a huge boost for him.
