The goalkeeper’s absence coincides with the Blues’ poor form

Chelsea have some cause for optimism after a bad start to the season, as Thibaut Courtois is making promising progress on his recovery from injury.

The shot-stopper was expected to be out for several months due to him undergoing surgery on his knee. However, he has updated fans via social media by suggesting his return could be sooner than expected.

The Belgian international posted a picture on Instagram and said: “Starting a next step of rehabilitation in the swimming pool.”

The West London club are struggling without Courtois, they currently sit 15th in the Premier League table and have conceded 14 goals already this campaign; which is the joint-second worst record in the league.

An early comeback would be exactly what Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho needs, as Courtois played a vital role in their Premier League title win last term by keeping 12 clean sheets.
