Craig Burley thinks Emery has one big decision to make

Former Chelsea player Craig Burley feels that Arsenal boss Unai Emery has to decide on a first-choice goalkeeper. Arsenal registered their 10th consecutive win of the season by defeating Leicester City 3-1 at the Emirates last night. Leicester took the lead through a Hector Bellerin own goal before goals from Ozil and Aubameyang won it for Arsenal. The Gunners are now 4th in the league table.

Summer signing Bernd Leno has started the last two matches for Arsenal after Petr Cech sustained a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s match against Watford. Cech should soon be back to full fitness for Arsenal.

However, Emery hasn’t yet said who out of Cech and Leno will be Arsenal’s starting goalkeeper for the season.

Burley thinks that goalkeeping position is a very key aspect for Arsenal. He said, “Unai Emery has a proven track record, no matter what you say. One of the decisions he’s going to have to make is the goalkeeping. There was talk of Petr Cech coming back but clearly Leno is more comfortable playing out from the back with his feet. He’s got to make a decision. Who is best playing with their feet from the back or who is the better goalkeeper. Even when Sokratis comes back in, it’s not the strongest defence so the goalkeeping position for them is going to be key.”

Arsenal next take on Sporting CP in a Europa League clash before facing Crystal Palace on Sunday.
