Eagles have £9million bid accepted

Sunderland striker Connor Wickham is set to travel to London in order to hold transfer talks with Crystal Palace after they saw a £9million bid accepted from The Black Cats.

The 22-year-old only managed to net six goals for Sunderland last season, but was the main reason they stayed in the Premier League during the 2013/2014 campaign.

In the remaining three games, Wickham netted five goals which ensured top-flight safety for the club.

However, on Thursday night, Sunderland accepted a formal bid from Palace for the Englishman and he is now set to hold personal talks with the club ahead of a switch.

Deals at Selhurst Park

Alan Pardew has already landed Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan and is now ready to add Wickham to his attacking options.

Wickham will become Palace’s second most expensive signing ever after they broke their fee earlier this window when they splashed £10m on Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain.

The deal could be finalised over the weekend.
