Blues veteran hints he is set to return to Stamford Bridge
Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini took to his Twitter account to hint that he will make a fond return to Chelsea this summer.
It is understood that the 42-year-old, who retired in 2013 at LA Galaxy, will return to the club as a goalkeeper coach and work alongside compatriot Antonio Conte, who began working with his players on Monday, in their return for pre-season.
Cudicini, who never featured for Italy at senior level but made appearances for the Under-18 and Under-21 age groups, made 216 appearances for Chelsea, between 1999 and 2009, before a four-year spell at the Blues’ London rivals Tottenham.
“Tomorrow starts a new challenge… Blue is the colour!@ChelseaFC.” Cudicini wrote on his Twitter page.
Rumours about a return to Stamford Bridge were first speculated last week, by an Italian journalist.
Chelsea’s current goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon is reportedly set to leave the west London club before the new campaign, making way for the Cudicini to take over and work with Thibaut Courtois, who has endured a tested relationship with Lollichon.
