The Reds defender has admitted he is frustrated that his Liverpool future remains unclear ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

Agger is yet to play for Liverpool this season due to injury, but the arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton has reduced his first-team chances further.

Barcelona and Arsenal have both been linked moves for with Agger, who was named as Liverpool’s vice-captain last summer, but neither have made an approach to the Anfield club.

And the 29-year-old concedes that he doesn’t know where his future will lie on September 1.

‘The future is complicated. There are a few things that has to be sorted and we have to take it from there. I actually don’t know what will happen. It is a bit up to Liverpool,’ he told Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

‘I have had niggling injuries at the wrong times and I have to say that it is difficult to change the team when it is winning.

‘I am not frustrated by that. I am frustrated the way it happened and the way it was handled.’
