Ex-Liverpool defender, Daniel Agger, has admitted that his relationship broke down with Brendan Rodgers, and that was why he left the club in order to rejoin, Brondby, back in his homeland.

The centre-back, who was wanted by FC Barcelona last Summer, secured a £3million move back to Denmark in August after begging and pleading with the club to sell him, and in a recent interview, he has now revealed what went wrong at Anfield in his last few months.

Agger admitted that he didn’t see eye-to-eye with Rodgers and believes the manager didn’t appreciate his performances for the club.

‘Let me put it this way: me and the manager were perhaps not on the same page for all of last season. For most of last season at least,’ he told Danish TV.

‘There was some distance between us and for me that was enough. I didn’t feel that he appreciated the things I contributed. And when I feel that, then it is time to move on.’
