Brondby defender, Daniel Agger, has revealed why he left Liverpool over the Summer.

The Dane returned to his boy-hood club in a deal worth ÂŁ3million, and he has now revealed that he left Anfield because he felt like he needed a change.

Agger was falling down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers despite the club’s defensive woes, and after Dejan Lovren arrived from Southampton, Agger all-but begged the manager to let him leave the club.

Since then, Liverpool have still had issues at the back, but Agger has admitted that he simply had to move on.

The centre-back said: “I felt like the last time at Liverpool I needed a change, after many, many years.

“It’s just a feeling, it’s difficult to describe.

“If I could write everything myself, I would have stayed there [at Liverpool] for the whole of my contract period, but I felt it wasn’t right.

“And when I feel something is not right, I have to take the consequences and try and do something else.

“It was a mix of football and the feeling of my body not being able to play the physical games, but the most important thing was that I wasn’t happy going to training every day.

“I had a great home there, my family enjoyed it, my kids enjoyed it there, they felt a big part of Liverpool.

“Liverpool and Brondby are two completely different clubs, you can’t compare the size.
