Sturridge’s injury heaps further pressure on Brendan Rodgers

Daniel Sturridge’s hip injury is set to rule him out of Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The England forward aggravated the problem in last week’s quarter final replay win over Blackburn.

Sturridge was forced to miss training again today, and is now considered a “major doubt” for Sunday’s match at Wembley.

The 25 year old believes he won’t be able to hit top form until the start of next season.

He has now been forced to miss the two recent England matches against Lithuania and Italy, and Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday.

Brendan Rodgers Woes

The news will come as a blow to manager Brendan Rodgers, who has had to speak to Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe over their recent off field conduct.

Sterling, the subject of intense scrutiny over his long term future at Anfield, was pictured smoking a shisha pipe and inhaling laughing gas. The 20 year old has been reminded of his duties as a professional sportsman, along with Ibe.

The Northern Irishman is also faced with the dilemma of whether to play Steven Gerrard who returns from his three match suspension for stamping on Ander Herrera against Manchester United.

Gerrard has played just 27 minutes of football since sustaining a hamstring injury against Tottenham on February 10th.
