Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a muscle injury.

The Englishman, who has already missed a large proportion of the season due to injuries, was sent home from international duty with a slight knock, but according to reports, it’s worse than first feared.

The 25-year-old has reportedly suffered a torn muscle in his hip and could be sidelined for around a month, dealing Brendan Rodgers a massive blow in the race for top-four.

When asked about the injury, England manager Roy Hodgson said the following: ‘I’m a little bit disappointed for Daniel Sturridge, because when he came to us he didn’t really feel that the slight problem he felt was really any problem at all.

‘When we did the scan and it turned out that there was a problem he was absolutely devastated, because he didn’t want to leave us. There was no option because he has a slight tear and you can’t play through that.’

This injury could mean Sturridge will miss Liverpool’s crunch game against Arsenal next weekend and also the club’s FA Cup Quarter Final replay with Blackburn Rovers.
