Manchester City manager Danilo insists Pep Guardiola’s excellent record in winning titles could hand them leverage in the Premier League title race.
Despite a number of hiccups City have managed to recover huge ground and are currently on the verge of reclaiming the top spot. Liverpool’s failure to take advantage of City’s slip up could be of great help for the defending champions who are due to take on Everton in a midweek Premier League clash.
Danilo played a pivotal part in City’s title triumph last season and is likely to replicate his role this season too. With the Sky Blues competing on four fronts, Guardiola has rotated the squad with great precision and will maintain the shape of the side for the remaining part of the season.
Danilo said, “Pep for example is a winner.
“He won a lot of titles with his previous teams so that helps us every day, every game. Every situation is completely different even for him but his experience can help us.
“You have to play your game and play for another result. Sometimes you play before or after [your title opponents] and you have to try and put in the same performance every game. If you stay calm and keep focused then you can win the title.
“It is much better to be on the top [instead of second]. In this time we are second and every game we are trying to get Liverpool, but if we have the opportunity to be on top it would be much better for us.”
