Striker suffered ligament damage in training session

Liverpool star Danny Ings is set to undergo surgery on his knee tomorrow after suffering a serious injury during Jurgen Klopp’s first training sessions in Melwood.

The England international sustained a partial tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, ruling him out for the entire season, but the striker himself is confident he can return before the 2015/2016 campaign ends.

Ings was just finding his feet at Anfield, scoring in the Merseyside Derby and in a Capital One Cup game, so the injury as halted the early stages of his career with Liverpool.

Despite being ruled out for up to nine months, Ings is confident he can return in six and is adamant he will feature for the Reds again this season.

Ings Staying Positive

“The only way I can get in his thoughts and show him what a good professional I am is the way I am in the gym or by being positive around the lads,” said Ings.

“Sometimes negativity can rub off on players and I don’t want to affect their performance. When you are injured you have to keep a positive mindset and keep moving forward.

“There will be a few down days when I am not feeling myself and I am gutted I cannot be out with the team. But I am trying to stay as positive as I can be.”
