Striker snubbed move to Manchester United in the process

New Liverpool striker Danny Ings has revealed why he chose Anfield over Old Trafford this summer.

The England international had a stand-out campaign for relegated Burnley last season, scoring 11 goals in the Premier League last campaign.

Sadly for Ings, his goals were not enough to keep The Clarets in the top-division as Sean Dyche‘s men were relegated back to the Championship.

However, after his contract expired at Turf Moor, he was free to choose his next club with both Manchester United and Liverpool interested.

The 22-year-old made it clear who he wanted to join and signed a deal in principle with The Reds before officially joining up with the squad yesterday.

When asked about why he picked Liverpool, Ings admitted that the move was a ‘no-brainer’.

Ings Speaks to Liverpool

“As soon as I knew that Liverpool were interested, it was a no-brainer,” he toldliverpoolfc.com.

“It was the only club on my mind, to be fair. And now that it has happened, it’s fantastic for me and my family.”

The striker then continued to discuss Brendan Rodgers and what he expects from his debut season in Merseyside.

“First of all, he wants me to come in, settle in and get used to the lads and enjoy training,” he added.

“Then we’re going to do some tactical stuff, which he does with every player, as you do coming in.

“Then obviously I’ll see how his team plays and how I can adapt to the way that Liverpool play.

“It’s definitely going to be a challenge but it’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to. I just can’t wait to get started.”
