New Liverpool striker isn’t fazed by competition

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has all-but confirmed the signing of Christian Benteke from Aston Villa after he welcomed him to the club.

Ings only joined The Reds earlier this summer after agreeing to leave Burnley on a free transfer, and despite Benteke coming in for a strikers role, Ings is not fazed by the competition.

The 22-year-old has spoken in an interview about Liverpool‘s transfer activity and he’s admitted that he was aware of Brendan Rodgers‘ plans to bring in a big-name, in particularly up front.

Despite this meaning Ings’ game-time may be limited, the England striker insists that he isn’t fazed by the potential new arrival.

Ings Welcomes Competition

He said: “At a club like this it is expected to sign top players.

“It can only lift you as a player, because it is all competition to get that starting place.

“I moved here knowing that there was going to be big signings here on top of the quality that is already here.

“For me it is all about developing and being the best I can be every day and try to compete against those players.”

“It is only good additions for me to train and play alongside.

“It is all down to the staff and manager who picks the side. All you can do is improve every day and do the best you can day in day out.”

Liverpool have triggered Benteke’s release clause in his contract worth ÂŁ32.4million, and the two parties are now discussing personal terms and payment structures.
