Darmian left unsure of United future by Mourinho

Right-back target of Juventus and Barcelona

Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian has been left unsure about his United future after having no talks with Jose Mourinho as yet.

Darmian is the target of European giants Juventus and Barcelona, and has now expressed uncertainly over his place at Old Trafford, following the departure of Louis van Gaal.

The Italian defender is currently away on international duty at Euro 2016 and has played twice in the group stages under incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Speaking to Tuttosport, Darmian said: “Today I’m a United player, I have a contract and so I think I also continue next season.

After a blistering start to his career at Old Trafford, his contribution to the side wavered and his inconsistency shone through. Darmian certainly has the ability to be a very good full-back in the Premier League and he offers cover in the left-back area should Luke Shaw need resting and with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson not available next season.

The Italian has been linked with an exit due to Mourinho’s interest in a reunion with Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta, but it doesn’t look like the Portuguese boss will let Darmian go after one year at United.
