David Alaba is the most sought after free agent in world football right now.
Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United wanted to sign him badly.
Liverpool are also competing for a deal as Alaba plays down the final season of his contract. Reports suggest that the Austrian will most likely leave Bayern next year, allowing him to discuss terms with new clubs from January 1st.
Alaba is considered one of the world’s best in his position and still only 28. Plenty of clubs will want to get him in their lineup even if it costs a great deal worth of wages. Manchester City are in the driving seat due to Alaba’s previous relationship with Pep Guardiola.
The Cityzens definitely could use a player of his stature in the left-back spot. Liverpool, on the other hand, might not be able to fit him there due to the glowing presence of Andy Robertson. Alaba has featured in a more central role under Hansi Flick in the Bayern defence and done well.
His versatility makes him very handy especially since he plays in the defensive midfield for Austria too. Alaba would have prefered a move to Spain but right now English clubs are lining up with very lucrative offers for him.
