Goalkeeper on the brink of leaving Old Trafford
Manchester United star David De Gea is on the brink of leaving the club as a move to Real Madrid edges closer.
The Spaniard has been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu after an impressive two seasons at Old Trafford, and after the news about Iker Casillas broke last night, it’s reported that a replacement is already close to arriving.
Casillas Out/De Gea In
Casillas, who has two-years left on his contract in Spain, has confirmed that he will be leaving the club after holding talks with the Madrid board, leaving space for De Gea to arrive from United.
As for De Gea, he has 12-months left on his contract, but United are ready to cash in on the number-one so that they don’t lose him on a free this time next year.
Price-Tag Revealed
According to reports in Spain, Madrid will pay £20million for the shot-stopper, making him one of the most expensive goalkeepers in history.
De Gea has developed into one of the world’s best goalkeepers in the past two years, after originally struggling in England because of his smaller frame. However, he has bulked up and is now considered one of the best ‘keepers in the world.
Despite being a former-Atletico Madrid man, De Gea has no problem join their fierce-rivals and is set to complete the deal in the next few weeks.
Potential Replacements
Louis Van Gaal will now begin his replacement search, with Tottenham Hotspur‘s Hugo Lloris and Chelsea‘s Petr Cech on top of his wishlist.
