Goalkeeper knows team has belief

David De Gea says that an increase in self-belief at Manchester United helped the team to beat Middlesborough and is the reason West Ham United should be afraid of them today.

United scored 2 goals in a minute in the final stages of the game on New Year’s Eve to come from behind and beat Boro, and the Spanish goalkeeper reckons now Jose Mourinho’s side have found their mojo, and they’re backing themselves in any match they go into.

Speaking after Saturday’s game de Gea said: “We believed in ourselves.

“We put all the [attacking] players on the pitch, the strikers and the wingers, and we scored two goals and got the three points.

“This is the Manchester United that everyone knows – when you’re losing 1-0 with ten minutes to go and score two great goals and win the game.

“Of course [we can win any game], that’s what we want. We need to keep it this way, to keep winning. I think that is the key, and to try and play our best football.”

De Gea also mentioned the positive effect of the fans on the players.

“Always when we’re down and there’s not much time left, the fans are always great,” he added. “With them behind us we won that game.”
