David Luiz: Chelsea are better off without me

David Luiz has admitted that Chelsea are a better team since his departure from the West London club in the summer.

And the defender, who swapped Stamford Bridge for Paris Saint-Germain in a ÂŁ50 million transfer deal, has placed on record his admiration for his former employers.

Jose Mourinho used the Luiz money to sign the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, with the Blues leading the way in the Premier League title race.

Luiz is set to return to Chelsea with his PSG side in the Champions League First Knockout round later this month.

He told RMC: “Chelsea are better this season

“They are much better balanced with the arrival of Fabregas.

“He may be the player they were lacking: he balances the middle, makes the team play well and helps keep the tempo.

“Plus they have the arrival of Diego Costa, a warrior striker who always wants to score and challenge the defenders.

“And with the continuity of Mourinho on the bench, it’s logical that Chelsea are even stronger this season.”
