Chelsea defender David Luiz is close to securing a mega-money move to French side Paris Saint-Germain, and after yesterday’s breaking news, the Brazilian has took to his official Facebook account to release a formal statement.

PSG are set to pay over £40million for the centre-back, which will make him the most expensive defender in the game, and all that is left is personal terms to agree, but after releasing a goodbye statement, it’s pretty certain that a deal will be official sooner rather than later.

Luiz’s statement read:

‘Thanks Chelsea for the three and half years of great partnership,’ Luiz said. ‘I’ve made good friends, won many titles and those memories will last with me for ever.

‘I’d like to thank my team mates, all staff and all supporters (my geezers).

‘I’m leaving with great sadness but at the same time excited for the new challenge that lies ahead in this great club in a city that have always enchanted me.

‘It’s a new stage, new challenge and together we will go even further. Allez Paris!’

The transfer will see Luiz end his near-four year stay at Stamford Bridge after completing his £22m move from Portuguese side Benfica in 2011.
