Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian defender, David Luiz, has explained why he decided to depart Chelsea in the summer of 2014.
Luiz helped the Parisians overcome the West Londoners in the first-leg of the Champions League last-16 on Wednesday night, with PSG leading 2-1, prior to the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.
In an interview with Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport, Luiz stated that his time at Chelsea had come to an end, hence his move to the French capital.
Luiz Reveals Why
Luiz said: ‘It was difficult (to leave) but sometimes you need to understand the cycle has finished,’ he said.
‘And it was the right moment to leave and I did well because I am so happy now like I was at Chelsea. Enjoying my life and career.
‘I am so thankful for Chelsea for everything and my history there was great, helping the team to win their first European title and their second. It was good.’
