Chelsea defender David Luiz is of the opinion that the club can do well without Thibaut Courtois becuase they have other quality players in their squad. Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard have both been linked to a move to Real Madrid for quite some time. Hazard will stay at Stamford Bridge because Chelsea and Real Madrid have not made any negotiations. However, Courtois wants to move to Madrid and hasn’t shown up for training.

While David Luiz wants both players to stay at the club, he believes that the club can do well without them as well. The Brazilian said after the Community Shield loss, “Chelsea wants for the best players to stay. They know Chelsea a lot, so they know what they’ve had here, the fun they’ve had here. Everybody loves them and I hope they can stay. I want them to stay, because we have top players with the confidence. I want them to stay, because we have top players with the confidence.”

Luiz added that Willian was never going away from Chelsea. The Brazilian winger had offers from Barcelona and Manchester United but committed his future at the club. Luiz said, “Since the beginning, he told me he loved Chelsea. To leave Chelsea, would be something totally out of the reality – if he really wanted to leave or if Chelsea really wanted to kick him out. This is not the reality. Chelsea loves Willian, Willian loves Chelsea, so that’s great. He played on Sunday after coming back after the World Cup, and he has already shown his quality. I wanted him to stay.”

Chelsea play the last of their pre-season friendlies today against Lyon at Stamford Bridge before starting their Premier League campaign against Huddersfield Town on Saturday
