Brazilian centre-back admits club would welcome striker with open arms

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has admitted the club would welcome Chelsea striker Diego Costa with open arms, despite their recent past in previous encounters.

The two fiery individuals went head-to-head in the Champions League last season, and are set to do battle once again this year, but despite their rivalry on the pitch, Luiz has admitted he’d love the striker at PSG.

The Ligue 1 champions have been strongly linked with signing a Chelsea star in recent months, but that’s been Eden Hazard rather than Costa, but it’s the striker that’s got Luiz excited.

Luiz used to play for Chelsea before completing a ÂŁ50million move to Paris a couple of years ago, and he’s admitted that the club would love to see Costa complete the same transfer in the near future.

Luiz Wants Costa

“Diego is one of the most clinical strikers in Europe, he would be a welcome addition to any team,” Luiz said.

“I think PSG have made their intent clear over the last three or four seasons, that we only add the best player.

“If Diego decides he has had enough of England and wants a new challenge, of course he would be welcome here.

“Diego and myself have had our clashes on the field, but you must understand there are two Diego’s.

“On the field he is physical, he is confrontational, he will get in your face, that is part of his game.

“Off the field he is a good friend, one of the nicest guys you can meet, somebody I would go to dinner with.”
