Manchester United Football Club have announced the sacking of manager David Moyes after just 10-months in charge.

The Scot was hand-chosen by former-manager Sir Alex Ferguson, but after 11 defeats in the league this year, and no chance of qualifying for next year’s Champions League, the Glazers made the decision this morning to part company.

The final straw appeared to come on Sunday when he took his side to Goodison Park, his former club, and lost 2-0, which meant they could not finish in the top-four, which meant missing out on Champions League for the first time in over a decade.

The club released this statement on their official website: “The Club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.”

Moyes, who was offered a six-year contract at the beginning of the season, reportedly held a meeting with the club’s officials this morning, and just after 8am, the decision was made to sack him with immediate effect.

United have really had a season to forget, losing twice to Manchester City and Liverpool, and suffering shock defeats to; West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United, Swansea City in the FA Cup, Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final and the final straw coming when they lost to Everton at the weekend.

Player-coach Ryan Giggs will take over as interim manager until the end of the season, with Louis Van Gaal and Jurgen Klopp favourites to take over.
