Manchester United manager David Moyes is ready to offer centre-back Nemanja Vidic a new contract at the club after revealing that the Serbian is the best defender he has ever worked with.
Vidic, who has been a vital player for United in the past season’s, had a horrible afternoon at the Etihad Stadium as his side crashed to a 4-1 defeat, but he is still regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
Injuries have forced the defender to miss a lot of action recently, but it looks like he is finally over the worst of the knocks and his new manager has openly praised him in the media today and labelled him as the best defender he’s ever worked with.
Moyes said: ‘Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja are two top centre halves. Vida is probably the best centre half I have ever worked with. He is that good, he really is.
‘Rio has really impressed me with how fit he has been. He has not missed a day’s training since we have been back.
‘If you took away the City game you are finding it hard to pick faults in any of them. I didn’t know about Vida’s contract. I have not looked into it yet. I am sure the chief executive and the club will be doing that.
‘He’s not old. He is a really top centre half. The best I have worked with, that’s for sure.’
