Colombian doesn’t want to leave despite Petr Cech arrival

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has reiterated his desire to stay at the club despite the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea.

The Colombian was Arsene Wenger‘s first-choice for the second half of the season after Wojciech Szczesny was dropped after a poor showing against Southampton in January.

Following the shambolic performance on the pitch, Szczesny was then caught smoking in the dressing room which lead to Wenger instantly dropping him and warning him.

Despite Ospina‘s solid performances throughout the latter stages of the campaign, Wenger was still not satisfied with either ‘keeper to be his number-one, and decided to spend £10.9million on Cech.

Cech Arrival/Ospina Departure?

After Cech arrived, it was reported that Ospina would be the man to lose his Arsenal status, with Fenerbache and Marseille interested.

However, the Colombian has now stated his desire to stay put in North London and fight for his place.

‘I want to continue showing my level and everything that I can give the Arsenal,’ he said. ‘I want to stay.’

‘Coming to Arsenal is a dream come true. It is such a great team.’

Recent reports have also linked Everton with a £5m bid for Ospina.
