The 31 year old is one of the best strikers in modern day football, having scored goals for club and country for years. The first Spanish player to ever reach 50 goals for the national side, winning countless trophies and playing for arguably the best side in the world.
So why would David Villa possibly be on the move?
The introduction of Neymar to Barcelona is not the best thing for David Villa, both playing in a similar position, as well as the likes of Christian Tello and Gerard Deulofeu showing some promise for the future of Barcelona. For one of the first times, Villa has had a somewhat poor season by his standards. Not playing as much as what he would like and also not banging in the goals on a regular basis.
Maybe David Villa thinks that his time is up at the top of Spain and it could be time for him to move abroad and seek a new challenge? This is where the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal step in. Both sides have shown interest in the Spanish star as they see him as the possible man to take them the next step further.
Both sides have a clear ambition. For Arsenal it is to start winning titles once again. For Spurs, it is to reach that top 4 spot and play in the much desired Champions League. On paper this would look like a great signing for either side, and with a decent pre-season under his belt, there is no reason why David Villa couldn’t be a the man to take them to the next level.
