Dele Alli has backed England to be the best side in the world.
England blanked the Czech Republic 5-0 in their opening European qualifiers and are scheduled to face Montenegro on Monday night. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder played a crucial role in England’s excellent World Cup journey last year and also was a key figure in their road to the semis of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.
Gareth Southgate has nurtured a youthful squad with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi stepping up in recent times. The ideal mix of youth and experience can do miracles and everyone has seen that in recent past.
Alli said, “We want to be the No1 team and to do that you have to be at it in every game and when you come away you have to prove yourself every time.
“We believe we can be the best in the world. Everyone will have their opinions but the work we’ve been putting in is to achieve that. There’s a long way to go, a lot of work to be done, but we are heading in the right direction.”
