Turkish side Besiktas have completed the signing of Chelsea striker Demba Ba.

The 29-year-old flew out to Turkey yesterday, where he discussed personal terms with the club and went through his medical, and he was eventually unveiled at the club later on in the afternoon.

The former-Newcastle forward will wear the number-9 shirt for his new club and will look to rejuvenate his career after becoming a fringe player at Stamford Bridge.

Besiktas managed to negotiate a deal with Chelsea, who were originally holding out for ÂŁ10million for the striker, but the Turkish outfit managed to secure the deal for ÂŁ8m instead after holding formal talks with the Premier League side.

It was originally suggested that it would only be a loan move for Ba, but it was announced today that it would be a permanent deal, and the striker revealed his delight at securing the move.

‘The interest shown by the fans and the new stadium project won me over,’ said the Senegalese striker.

‘I’m very happy to be here, all that is left is a few formalities, I will undergo a medical and sign the contract.

‘I am excited to be here and can’t wait to start playing.

‘I want to showcase my talent to the fans as soon as possible, this is a huge club and I want to become a part of it.

‘I want to thank the fans for their warm welcome and I am sure we are going to establish a great relationship.’

Ba was always going to be on his way out of The Bridge this Summer after Jose Mourinho was desperate to change his strike-force throughout the whole of last season.

Mourinho has now lost both Ba and Samuel Eto’o, but has gained Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
