Deulofeu could part ways with Barcelona
Gerard Deulofeu came up through the ranks of famous Barcelona’s youth academy and many thought he was the next big thing. But the Spanish never quite settled in the club.
Since his debut in 2011 for the senior team, he has been a part of loan deals for clubs like Everton and Sevilla, before making a permanent move to Everton in 2015. In 2017, Barcelona activated their buy back clause to bring him back only to loan him again to Watford this January.
He is currently sidelined due to injury and was speaking about his future-
“I see returning to Barca as very difficult,” he told Esports COPE. “In the end, I’m the one who should earn [the chance] to play more. I believe in myself more than anyone but I recognise that I have not been regular.
“I want to play and be happy, I do not like to be on the bench, like the majority of players. But I told the coach [Ernesto Valverde] when I left on loan ‘much of the blame is mine because you have given me the opportunities that I wanted’.
“We will have to speak with Barca and with my agent, but I cannot say what will happen because I don’t know myself.
“Since I arrived at Watford I [have been] very happy. They have treated me differently, I have been able to play four matches and I was feeling very well. The injury was a shame, but I hope to return soon and be able to play four or five matches before the end of the season.”
If Deulofeu don’t return to Barcelona, there would be host of clubs ready to sign him as there is no doubt about his talent. He is a very skillful player and can play anywhere in the attacking positions.
