Bayern Munich Agree £25million fee for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Douglas Costa
According to German publication Sport1, Bayern have reached a £25million agreement with Shakhtar for Costa’s services ahead of the summer window.
The Bundesliga giants were reportedly interested in the availability of Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria amid speculation of the Argentinians plea to leave Old Trafford after a difficult first season in English football.
However Bayern have opted against pursuing Di Maria as they consider the 24-year-old Costa as a cheaper alternative to fit into Pep Guardiola’s side.
Central Europe
The Brazilian has made no secret of his desire to step up to the next level and play in an elite European league. Premier League champions Chelsea were also in the hunt, but it seems Bayern have won the race for his signature on a four-year deal.
Costa recently said on his future: “I have been working for many years to play for a big club in Central Europe. And if this possibility exists, then I would be very happy.”
The runaway Bundesliga champions have certainly reached a verbal agreement with the player and his club, with the move set to be made official soon.
