Barcelona director says Argentine doesn’t fit Real’s brand
A Barcelona director has slammed Manchester United record-signing Angel di Maria as being too ugly for Real Madrid.
It has been a tough time for di Maria recently, struggling for form and has now been criticised by one of the Catalan’s directors, Carles Rexach.
The Argentina international made a club-record £59.7 million switch to Old Trafford last summer, but Rexach claims Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez fit the ‘image’ better.
“(Vicente) Del Bosque and Di Maria are too ugly for Real Madrid. They are different from Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.” Rexach said.
“Florentino Perez looks at the world market and wants a team of Galacticos for everyone to admire.
“(Cristiano) Ronaldo is the flagship of the club. Perez is selling an international brand.”
Di Maria helped Real Madrid to ‘La Decima’ last year, as the Galacticos won a record tenth title, more than any other side in Europe.
