The Forward will stay at Atletico Madrid this summer
Since joining Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad back in 2014, Antoine Griezmann has been a mainstay in the team. He has given numerous impressive performances and has established himself as one of the best strikers in the World.
The 27 year old has been a regular for La Liga giants this season and, scoring 29 goals in all competitions. He helped his team to finish 2nd in the La Liga and inspired them to win the Europa League last month.
Despite being contracted with Atletico until the summer of 2022, the France International has been heavily linked with a exit from the club. He has been heavily linked with a move to rivals Barcelona in recent weeks with reports claiming that they are ready to pay his £88 million release clause.
The Forward kept a tight silence on the subject throughout France’s World Cup preparations but recently confirmed that he will make an announcement about his future by the end of this week, before the World Cup starts.
The player has finally buried speculation over his future with the news that he will remain at the Wanda Metropolitano,  revealing his decision in a lavish video documentary.
France Coach Didier Deschamps is happy that Griezmann has made decision by deciding on his club future and believes he can focus on the World Cup right now.
Speaking to reporters at a news conference in Kazan on Friday, Deschamps said as quoted by Goal: “Two things that come to mind are his loyalty and commitment to Atletico, and most importantly he has freed his mind for the World Cup, and it’s certainly a very good thing for us.”
“I’ve already spoken on the matter,” he added. “Some people think it’s more important how he announced it rather than what the content was. I just think it’s important he showed his loyalty and free himself.
“It was nothing to do with me. I have enough to look after… I was the one filming.”
