Chelsea striker Diego Costa is likely to face a ban after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.
The charge relates to a supposed “stamp” on Liverpool’s Emre Can, during Chelsea’s 1-0 League Cup semi-final victory last night, an incident that was missed by the match officials.
The Brazilian born Spanish international has 24 hours to respond to the charge.
If found guilty, Costa could miss the crucial top of the table clash against Manchester City.
However, the FA won’t be taking further action against Costa for a similar challenge on fellow Reds defender Martin Skrtel.
