Chelsea has struggled with goals from their front men so far this season, heavily lying on their midfielders. Although Jose Mourinho has ruled out signing a striker in this transfer window, Diego Costa is rumoured to be Chelsea’s top transfer target in the summer.
Diego Costa was subject of a bid in the summer from Liverpool, but since the summer he has been in lethal form for Atletico Madrid. The striker is still only 25 and has helped Atletico to second place in La Liga, currently level on points with Barcelona. Costa has been subject to interest from a number of Premier League teams, such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and now Chelsea.

Reports suggest Mourinho and Diego Costa have opened preliminary talks, moving towards a potential move in the summer. It is well known Diego Costa currently has a £32 million release clause in his contract, but has committed his future to Atletico Madrid for the remainder of the season.
With this window coming to a close, Atletico Madrid will hope to secure Costa’s future beyond the summer.
