Jose Mourinho is set to hand Diogo Dalot his Manchester United debut in the Champions League opener against Young Boys in Switzerland.

The 19 year old Portuguese arrived from Porto in the summer but had been recuperating from a knee injury. But the youngster has gone through rigorous training regimes and had to prove his fitness by completing minutes in a couple of U23 matches.

The right back is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the European circuit and also expected to be the long term successor of Antonio Valencia. Dalot can inject the much needed pace and athleticism in the squad which has been largely missing.

Mourinho already confirmed left back Luke Shaw’s availability which means we could see an all new young fullback pairing in this match. Dalot did have the experience of this tournament as he was in the Porto side which took on Liverpool in the Champions League last season which eventually finished goalless.

Dalot has travelled with the travelling contingent and if all goes right the youngster is expected to be in the starting lineup. Keeping in mind of the Premier League clash against Wolves Mourinho could ring in some changes to the side.
