Liverpool are negotiating with Lille over the possibility of Divock Origi returning to Anfield this month, the BBC have reported.
Origi, aged 19, joined Liverpool in a £10 million transfer deal in the summer, but was then immediately loaned back to Lille on loan for the season.
The Reds have struggled in the final third this season, with Mario Balotelli, Lazer Markovic and Rickie Lambert scoring three goals between them.
“There has been some discussion but there is nothing to report,” Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said. “The agreement was for him to stay there so we will see how that works.
“If not we have the players here and we will go with what we have got.”
Origi himself has netted four times for Lille this season.
