Lille manager, Rene Girard, has revealed that Divock Origi will not be making a January return to his parent club, Liverpool.

The Reds had been linked with the option of cutting the season-long loan deal short after struggling to score goals in the opening stages of the season, however, Girard has dismissed those reports, claiming the English side have no chance of bringing him back.

Liverpool signed Origi in the Summer but then agreed to send him out on loan to Lille to gain experience, but with Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli failing to impress at Anfield, Brendan Rodgers was considering bringing back the Belgium earlier than expected.

When asked about the possibility of losing Origi in the Winter, Girard said: ‘It’s just a rumour. There is not truth to my knowledge. It was agreed that Divock would stay the year with us. There is no reason he would leave midway through the championship.

‘They have failed to score at Liverpool? Us too. We need him a lot.’
