Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has at last joined Real Madrid for a reported £85.3 million, (100 millions euros) which breaks the world record of £80 million when Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United to also move to Real Madrid.
The 24 year old Wales international initially moved to Spurs as a left back for a staggering £10 million, he struggled in the left back role and was nearly involved in a deal to bring Stewart Downing to the club back in 2008.
Bale has signed a 6 year deal worth £300,000 per week, he said “I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it’s the right time to say goodbye.”
“We’ve had some special times together and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
“I am not sure there is ever a good time to leave a club where I felt settled and was playing the best football of my career to date. I know many players talk of their desire to join the club of their boyhood dreams, but I can honestly say, this is my dream come true.”
“Tottenham will always be in my heart and I’m sure this season will be a successful one for them. I am now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life, playing football for Real Madrid.”
Bale made 146 appearances for Suprs scoring 42 goals.
