Defender signs three-and-a-half year deal

Norwich City Football Club have announced the signing of Dinamo Zagreb defender Ivo Pinto on a three-and-a-half year deal.

The Portuguese right-back has agreed to join the Premier League outfit subject to paperwork after the two parties agreed on an undisclosed fee, with Pinto putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

The 26-year-old made his breakthrough with FC Porto, but after failing to make the cut there, he completed a permanent move to Zagreb in 2013.

Pinto made over 100 appearances for the Croatian side and played 90-minutes against Premier League giants Arsenal earlier this season in the Champions League.

After arriving at Carrow Road, Pinto spoke to the club’s official website and revealed his delight at joining the Canaries.

Club Statements

Pinto exclusively told Norwich City TV: “I’m very excited to come here and play for a big club in the Premier League.

“I’m looking forward to starting work to help the team achieve their goals.”

Norwich boss Alex Neil also spoke to the club’s website and he discussed the new signing.

Neil added: “Ivo has had Champions League experience this season, playing against Arsenal and Bayern Munich where he did very well.

“He’s a Portuguese Under-21 international and at only 26 has his best years ahead of him. He is an athletic and good defender and will bring us options at the back.”
