Watford star pens new five-year deal

Watford Football Club have announced that Ikechi Anya has signed a new long-term deal at the club.

The 27-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Hornets in recent years and the club have announced this morning that he’s put pen-to-paper on a new and improved five-year deal.

Anya has been at Vicarage Road since 2012, when he spent a season on loan at the club from La Liga side Granada. A year later, he made that loan move a permanent one.

After signing the new deal, the Scottish international spoke to the club’s official website and revealed his delight at committing his long-term future to the club.

Anya Statement

“I’m very grateful to be here,” Anya told watfordfc.com.
“I’ve had an incredible time here, this is my fourth year at Watford and it’s just been so good. When we came to talking about contracts this was always my first port of call.
“I wanted to stay here and I feel fortunate that they have given me a chance to do so.
“This is where I wanted to stay. You wouldn’t sign somewhere if you weren’t happy there, and this is why when I wake up in the morning and drive in I feel so happy.
“Why wouldn’t I want that for as long as I possibly could? I’m going to enjoy my time and try and do everything I can on the pitch to help the team.”
