Foxes announce deal for midfielder
Leicester City Football Club have announced the signing of Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler.
The 31-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal at the King Power Stadium after the two sides agreed on a fee, which is yet to be revealed.
Inler comes in as a suitable replacement for Esteban Cambiasso, who chose to leave at the end of his one-year contract earlier in the summer.
Claudio Ranieri‘s men have had a perfect start to the new campaign, winning their first two Premier League games, and the arrival of Inler will boost morale around the club even further.
Inler has been given the number-31 shirt by Leicester and after arriving in England, he sat down and spoke to the club’s official website to discuss the transfer from Napoli.
Player Statement
“I’m very happy and proud to play here because we’ve been in discussions for a long time,” said Inler. “I’ve spoken with the manager and I’m very happy to be here because it’s a nice team. I’ve watched them lots of times and I like them.
“The manager was important for me, also the Director Jon Rudkin and the owners. For me the whole package was very positive because they wanted me and now I’ll give everything.
“For me it was not so easy because I had many, many teams [chasing me] but in the end I decided with my heart and I came Leicester City.
“I feel this is like a family. I saw the games and the fans are behind the team. I like this very much. My impression is very positive. The team fight every minute and I like it because the fans want this. We must show them this every game on the pitch.”
Adapting to England
Inler then spoke about his pre-season and how he’s prepared for the style of football in the Premier League.
He added: “I’m ready. I had a good preparation in pre-season and now I’m ready to give everything for this Club.
“I hope I can give my best in the team. My quality will be to provide the passes to the front and with the fast players we’ve got I think it will be a great mix.
“I think in Italy everybody speaks about the tactics. Everyday there we practice tactics, but English football is fast both physically and tactically. I’m in the best league in the world and I’m happy.”
