The Spain international had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United

Ramos, 29, will be unveiled at a ceremony in the stadium’s presidential box at 12:30pm today.

The La Liga club were reportedly willing to sell the centre-back earlier this summer when it appeared United were willing to let keeper David De Gea move the other way.

However, negotiations broke down after the Red Devils were only willing to pay £35million£29million less than Madrid’s valuation, according to reports.

In addition, United were adamant they would only sell De Gea for a world record £35million but Madrid were only prepared to offer as high as £25million.

All hope of signing Ramos now appears to be gone as the club captain today extended his stay at the Bernabeu.

Otamendi could snub United for City

Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi is a player which United have been linked with should they fail in a move to sign Ramos.

The Argentina international had stated his intention to join the Red Devils and was set to cost United £35million, according to La Liga football expert Graham Hunter.

However, reports today claim City are planning to hi-jack United’s move for the 27-year-old after they are believed to have had a £28.4million bid accepted over the weekend.

Question’s remain over whether the former Porto defender would be able to oust Vincent Kompany or Eliaquim Mangala from the starting line-up at the Etihad.

The central defensive pair have looked assured at the back, keeping consecutive clean sheets in consecutive 3-0 victories against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea.
