Ahead of Tuesdays Champions League game against Chelsea. Julian Draxler has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to play in England, to play more first team football.

“There were offers from England, but I stayed because I was certain to play in World Cup year”

Regarded as one of the hottest young football talents in Germany, it makes sense for him to stay in the Bundesliga, but he has not ruled out a move for next year.

“However, you never know what will happen in the future. I have my favourite team, but I am at Schalke and I don’t want to talk about other clubs.”

With the news coming out just before Tuesdays big game against Chelsea, Draxler spoke on playing against his friend Andre Schrulle, and whether or not Chelsea will underestimate Schalke.

“I’ve spoken with Schurrle. He’s happy at Chelsea and likes the manager Jose Mourinho a lot, and I don’t think Chelsea will be surprised by how good we are. Mourinho will tell his side how strong we are. He’s one of the best coaches if not the best coach in the world. It will be a difficult game, but we are at home and we’ve won the first two matches. We can beat Chelsea”
